Why not just use a thick balm?

Balms sit on top of thickened skin. This has a mild polyhydroxy acid that gently clears the rough surface layer first, so the hydration actually gets in.

15 ml won’t cover my body.

Will the acid sting?

Gluconolactone is a polyhydroxy acid — larger molecule, slower penetration, far gentler than glycolic. It’s used here at a texture-smoothing level, not a peeling level.
